Brigadier General (BG) Wilma L. Vaught, US Air Force (Ret), will speak at the Freedom Museum on September 29, 2015. She will discuss the story of women in the military and her most lasting contribution, the Women In Military Service For America Memorial. She was the driving force that built that memorial and she now oversees its operation.
BG Vaught graduated from the University of Illinois, entered the US Air Force after a short time in the corporate world, and retired after more than 28 years of service. She is one of the most highly decorated women in U.S. history. A Vietnam veteran, she was one of the few military women in that war that were not nurses and were promoted to brigadier general. BG Vaught will be the Grand Marshall of this year’s Veteran’s Day Parade in Manassas, VA..
The presentation will be at the Freedom Museum from 7:00 PM to 8:45 PM. The Museum is located in the Manassas Airport Terminal, 10600 Harry Parrish Blvd., Manassas, VA 20110. Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
